Valley of Fire
World-renowned for its 40,000 acres of bright red Aztec sandstone outcrops, Valley of Fire State Park is one of the most amazing parks in the United States. The sandstone is from the Jurassic period and is the remnant of the sand left behind by the wind after inland seas subsided and the land rose. As I traveled throughout the park, I felt as if I was on an alien planet. The colorful sandstone was something that words cannot describe. I chose to arrive first thing in the morning as the sun was rising. As the sun rose above the horizon, I quickly realized why this place is named the Valley of Fire.
